DEFINING THE PROBLEM
As a nation we spend more than 90% of our lives indoors.
Even more surprising is that our indoor air quality is up to 5 times more dangerous than outdoor air pollution.
Airborne viruses, VOC’s and particulate matter (PM2.5 & PM10) are amongst the most harmful contributors to poor indoor air quality.
This quite often impacts on our sleep, cognitive thinking, emotional wellbeing
and create horrendous environments for asthmatics and allergy sufferers.
1000 people a day die from Asthma.
WAO estimates that between 750 Million and 3 Billion people suffer from Allergies Globally.
That’s 10-40% of the population.
Children are at a greater risk with 40-50% suffering and these figure continue to grow.
Allergies are amongst the most chronic diseases in Europe with more than 150 Million people affected and this is expected to rise to as much as half the population by 2025.
At least 44% of British people now suffer from at least one Allergy (30 Million people).
Almost a 3rd of Allergy sufferers have made conscious changes to their lifestyles including having an extra clean house, hypoallergenic bedding and actively seeking allergy friendly alternatives.
Based on these numbers we estimate that of the combined 157.5 Million Domestic and International travellers seeking accommodation in the UK annually, up to 63 Million people will suffer from Allergies and of which as many as 21 Million are actively seeking Allergy Friendly Solutions whilst travelling.
